PMVA is short for Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression. This generally involves techniques of ‘restraints’ but some terms may be used such as STMVA, MVA, MAPA. EC&R, PBS, MAYBO etc. All techniques that involve restraints for people in care are now regulated.
BILD or BILD ACT are inspectors of organisations that train PMVA so that meet standards set by Restraint Reduction Network (RRN). Organisations that meet standards are listed on www.bildact.org.uk Certified organisations – Bild – Association of Certified Training (bildact.org.uk)as certified training providers
GSA- The General Services Association trains PMVA tutors and have their approved manual of techniques. It is a widely used model for PMVA since early 1980s. Other organisations that train tutor have a different model from GSA and may use a different name for PMVA as PMVA is widely associated with GSA eg MAPA- Management of Actual or Potential Aggression (now CPI) is a different name for PMVA
KaOM Ltd- Is an organisation that employees GSA tutors and certified by Bild. Certified organisations – Bild – Association of Certified Training (bildact.org.uk)
Yes. Certificates are issued only to candidates who pass the end of course assessment and who have paid in full for their training. If your training was booked and paid for by your employer/agency, we will send your certificate to them. You will need to communicate with your agency/employer to obtain your certificate from them.
You will get a feedback from the leading tutor and agreed action plan. Action plans may include new assessment within 7 days, returning for further training or a failure report
365days (1 year). RRN standards expects you to take a full course every 3 years. Once a certificate is expired we DO NOT verify it to any employer for any reason therefore do not present it for employment or verification.
Yes, provided you pay at least 2 weeks in advance and you are paying for more than 3 candidates attending the same training.
No. You need to provide evidence of your training. You must be experienced almost a year to come for refresher. You can come for another full course, pay in full and attend all days
No. We only train candidates who need training and certificates are for satisfactory completion of the training.
The spaces on our courses are limited. After booking a course, you can cancel the booking up to 48 hrs before your scheduled training. Cancellation after that time will mean you are expected to pay for that lesson.
To cancel your booking, please email reuben@kaom.co.uk with the details of the training date and course that you are cancelling.
a) Self-funded candidates will not get refunds. Our cancellation is minimum of 48 hours notice period. Emergency bookings will also not get refunds.
b) Agencies and/or Employers will be invoiced as expected to manage timely attendance of their workers.
All trainings are classroom based as they include a practical element. You will be assessed continually for the practical and theory. You must pass both.
When you present certificates, good agencies and employers write to us to verify authenticity. .
Yes, you are expected to attend all three days in order to successfully complete the course.

No. The training is physically intensive and pause a risk to you and your unborn baby.
